die suche - the searching

ich hatte keine wirkliche vorstellung am anfang. nur der finanzielle rahmen war gesetzt. auch war nicht klar, woher es kommen soll. niederlande, dänemark, deutschland oder eben usa. auch mit kanada hatte ich kontakt. das erste was mir aufstieß, war, dass die verkäufer zwar dein geld abfassen wollen, aber keine große lust haben dich mit informationen zu versorgen. mal zwei sätze, mal fünf - 3, 4 oder 6 bilder, dass ist alle was manche für eine 5 stellige summe bieten - ein witz. die preise auf dem europäischen festland waren schlicht zu hoch, weshalb die suche sich schnell auf amerika beschränkte. langsam wurde auch klar was es werden sollte. baujahr 36 - 48, familientauglich, fat fender, v8, fertig also nicht noch ein projekt. und irgendwann kam mir der chevy fleetline unter die augen. was für ein auto. endlich wußte ich, was ich zu suchen hatte.

ive had no idea at the beginning. only the upper limit was clear. it was also blurry, from where did come the ride. netherland, denmark, germany or even the usofa. i had also contact with some canadian guys. it did bother me , that the seller although wants your money but they havent motivation to bring you informations. sometimes 2 or 3 sentence, 3, 4 or 6 pix, thats all for a 5 digit sum - its a joke. in europe the prices for good condition cars was inadmissible and so i look over the ocean solely. and slowly it became clearness, what ride will come. year 36-48, capable for family, fat fender, v8 engine, finished not another project. and than came the fleetline. what a beauty. now i knew what i have to look for.

der anfang - the beginning

...und auch der grund, ist der 73 camino, der schon seit 4 jahren in der garage steht.
nach weil am rhein 2007 und finsterwalde im gleichen jahr konnte ich schon nicht mehr
still sitzen. zwar waren die schritte 2008 richtung -FERTIG- groß, aber eben nicht bis über die ziellinie. dazu kamen in den letzten jahren jede menge neue einflüsse und ideen. und so stand schnell fest, dass ein 73 baujahr unmöglich das mass der dinge sein kann. ich hatte mir für 2009 das ziel gesetzt on the road zu sein, und zwar mit was richtigem ;-) ich weiß nicht wieviele gebrauchtautoseiten in meinen bookmarks gestanden haben, wieviele e-gay auktionen ich beobachtet habe und wieviele emails hin- und her gelaufen sind. aber ich kann sagen, dass sich das warten gelohnt hat. und da es für mich ne ziemlich grosse sache ist, mal eben meinen traumwagen über den teich zu holen, dachte ich, dass n blog dazu ne coole sache wäre. und da ich diese deutsch/englisch geschichte wie in smokinshutdown ziemlich cool finde, werde ich versuchen mit meinen bescheidenen kenntnissen, den blog auch 2-sprachig zu bauen. ich hoffe das ich nicht allzu daneben liege mit manchen sachen hahahaha.

...and also the reason is my 73 camino, staying in the garage since 4 years. after weil am rhein 2007 and finsterwalde in the same year i became flutter. altough in 2008 things gone good to came to an end with the camino, but i didnt go over the finish line. another fact were the ideas and influences over last few years. and i came to the conclusion, that the a 73 camino cant be the measure of things. and i want to be on the road in 2009, with a real one :-). i dont know how many booksmarks i have had from usedcar-sites, how many e-gay auctions i have watched and how many emailtraffic i have had with both, but i can say, it was worth to wait for a while. to due the fact that this is a great thing for me, to shipping my dreamcar oer the ocean, i thought that a blog could be very cool. i will try to write this blog bilingual like in the smokinshutdown mag. this is a great thing, yes the mag too. i hope that i translate it right with my humble skills.
